Patients who have concluded treatment and are overweight are more at risk for recurrence and shorter survival times. In addition to these benefits, fitness after cancer treatment can improve your mood, boost self-confidence, and reduce the fatigue that is so common during treatments.

Exercise program after cancer treatment

Starting a fitness routine after cancer treatment is important, but so is easing back into a regular exercise program. Make sure you talk to your doctor before you begin. It’s better to be active for short amounts of time throughout the day instead of trying to do a lot at once, when you’re starting an exercise program after treatment. Introduce some resistance training as well to build up muscles that may have weakened during your treatment. Prior to beginning a workout, it’s important to warm up for a couple minutes with some light movement.
