Dr. Karissa Boyd is board certified in oncology and hematology and specializes in treating all kinds of cancer including breast, lung, colon, lymphoma and melanoma. She received her medical degree from the Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences, where she met her husband. After 10 years of practicing in Topeka, Dr. Boyd returned to the South to join Baptist Medical Group in 2019 and serve the patients of the Golden Triangle.
To get a clear explanation of their diagnosis that’s communicated directly to them and the family members that are present. My goal is to alleviate the fear of the unknown while explaining treatment options.
I believe clear communication and trust is most important in the doctor-patient relationship. It is important to clearly understand the patient's goals, needs and concerns about their treatment so I can most effectively take care of them.
I have four daughters and they take up most of my spare time. I enjoy watching my daughter participate in multiple activities including basketball, soccer, track and gymnastics. I also like to exercise at the gym, run outside with my girls, or read a good novel.
It is most rewarding when a patient has a great response to treatment. I pray that even my sickest patients can have some quality time with their families.
