Baptist Cancer Center offers a wide range of support groups and classes throughout the Memphis metro area, Mississippi, Arkansas, and West Tennessee.

Blossom Within

Feb. 20, June 12, Sept. 25 from 1 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Baptist Memorial Hospital for Women is offering a complimentary program for women who are newly diagnosed and currently undergoing cancer treatment. Please join us to discover ways to complement your inner and outer beauty with professional make-up tips, techniques for wearing wigs, adornments, post-surgical attire and living a healthy lifestyle.

Cancer and Your Self-Image

Meets the fourth Wednesday of each month.

Cancer and Your Self Image addresses the physical and emotional changes that cancer can bring and helps you work through and manage feelings associated with these changes. It is a safe space for you to share the difficulties you face internally on a daily basis. You will learn tips to help you with the changes you may see or feel.

Meets the first Thursday of each month.

Baptist's virtual Cancer Support Group is open to those diagnosed with any kind of cancer to share and process together in a safe space. This group meets monthly via Microsoft Teams to connect with others going through similar experiences.

Columbus, MS, Tobacco Cessation Support Group

Meets in person on the third Friday of each month

This group realizes quitting smoking is difficult and can bring a flood of negative emotions, like fear, anxiety, guilt, shame, uncertainty and doubt. Our Tobacco Cessation Support Group meets monthly in a safe space to share and process these emotions while adding accountability and community to help throughout your tobacco cessation journey.

Meets the first Friday of each month

Comfort for Caregivers support group is open to anyone providing care for a loved one with cancer. This monthly group provides a safe space to share and to connect with others going through similar experiences.

Meets at noon, the second Wednesday of each month

Join us for the Crittenden Cancer Support Group online or in person. This event provides a safe and supportive space for sharing experiences, offering encouragement, and fostering connections. Our supportive community is here to provide emotional support, answer questions, and offer resources to help you navigate your cancer journey. Together, we can empower one another and find strength in unity.

Meets on the second Friday of each month in person and online

Desoto Cancer Support Group is open to those diagnosed with any kind of cancer to share and process together in a safe space. Be sure to register here as lunch will be provided in person.

Navigating Financial and Insurance Information

Meets the fourth Thursday of each month

During this class, you will learn how to navigate private insurance, Medicare and Medicaid, find out when to enroll for or change your coverage, understand costs associated with premiums and deductibles, and get advice on other important issues related to insurance. We'll also review protections you have under the Americans with Disabilities Act and other government programs, such as the Family and Medical Leave Act. All sessions are held online via Microsoft Teams.

Head and Neck Cancer Support Group

Meets on the first Tuesday of each month

This support group is open to those diagnosed with any type of head and neck cancer. This monthly free virtual group provides a safe space to share and connect with others going through similar experiences. The chat function will be available for those who need it to participate. This group is facilitated by a social worker and a head and neck cancer survivor.

Laughter Yoga

Meets on the first and third Mondays of each month

You know what they say: Laughter is the best medicine! At Laughter Yoga, you'll learn unique combinations of breathing, fluid movements and voluntary laughing to make you happier and healthier. You can practice laughter yoga while sitting or standing.

Living Beyond Cancer

Meets the second Thursday of each month

Living Beyond Cancer discusses life after cancer treatment. This group will help you transition to your "new normal" by sharing resources on follow-up care, memory, pain, and a healthy lifestyle. Having support throughout this process is so important. This class offers extended support in the post treatment season. Join us the second Thursday of the month to learn more and ask questions.

Covington Men's Cancer Support Group

Meet the third Thursday of each month

Join the Men's Cancer Support Group to share a meal, friendship, and support. This event provides a safe and supportive environment for men diagnosed with cancer to enjoy food, share their experiences, seek guidance, and offer emotional support to one another. At the Men's Cancer Support Group, you will have the opportunity to connect with others who understand the challenges and triumphs of battling cancer. Share your journey, listen to inspiring stories, and gain valuable insights from fellow participants.

Moving with Purpose

Meets on the second and fourth Tuesdays of each month

This class teaches cancer patients simple and effective strength and movement practices to incorporate in their lifestyles. Movement is medicine, and for anyone seeking a gentler movement practice to complement and facilitate healing of body, mind, emotions and spirit, this class is for you. Move with purpose to reduce stress and increase flexibility, mobility, stability and strength. This class does not require an prior experience and is appropriate for all fitness levels. Join the class to learn how to personalize movement to adapt to your comfort and health needs.

Navigating Cancer serves to provide greater insight into what you might expect during and after cancer treatment. You'll get the opportunity to ask questions to our experts, members of your care team, and even other patients who understand first-hand what you are going through. New Albany, MS, Ostomy Support Group

Meets the fourth Tuesday of each month

This group is open to people living with ostomies and their caregivers. Participants will learn how to adapt to colostomy/ostomy bags after surgery, meet others receiving ostomy care and gain access to educational resources from Baptist Union County.
