Meet the Doctor

Dr. Suhail Obaji is board-certified in oncology by the American Board of Internal Medicine and the American Board of Oncology. He specializes in the treatment of blood and bone marrow cancers, including leukemia and lymphoma. A native of Syria, Dr. Obaji moved to Memphis in 1989 to complete his medical training. He is fluent in English and Arabic. Dr. Obaji joined Baptist Cancer Center in 2011.

What can a patient expect when they have you as a doctor?

My patients can expect to receive the respect they deserve and the knowledge that they will be listened to and cared for with compassion and a desire to help.

What is the most important factor in a doctor patient relationship and why?

Open and complete communication, mutual respect and assured confidentiality. I believe these are all necessary for the patient to feel at ease with their doctor.

What hobbies or activities do you enjoy when you're not working?

When I am not working, I enjoy reading and traveling.

What about your line of work do you find the most rewarding?

I love my job, and the best reward is knowing my patients are doing well and getting the help they need.
